Message from the Chair

I am delighted to welcome you to the Department of Humanities and Politics. On behalf of the faculty and staff in our department, I invite you to learn more about our programs, accomplishments, and future plans.

Our curricular offerings aim to engage students in diverse and dynamic coursework across a range of disciplines. Our programs are steeped in the liberal arts tradition, with courses that emphasize critical thinking, reading and writing. Our seminar style learning environments enable individualized attention and opportunities for research. Our faculty will challenge you to think ethically and logically, to understand the power of words, to engage language and culture, and to the see the world differently.

The Department of Humanities and Politics is home to home seven undergraduate majors, fifteen minors, and one graduate program. The department also offers undergraduate and graduate students a range of opportunities to get involved where they can interact with peers and faculty outside the classroom.

I look forward to meeting you and learning about your successes in the classroom and beyond.

Sincerely,

David Kilroy, Ph.D.
