Education:
Adele Leon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts in the NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. She earned her Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English, with a focus on critical feminism and community writing partnerships from the University of Arizona. She currently teaches courses in the Writing Minor, including basic writing, college writing, and advanced college writing.
Dr. Leon's research engages structural and organizational issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, reciprocity in community-university partnerships, and writing across the curriculum. This research has resulted in a collaboration at UArizona with the Mathematics program to integrate writing into Calculus classes, the adoption and implementation of her theoretical Liberatory Writing Program Administration at Pima Community College, and her current position with the National Women's Studies Association on their 2022 conference planning committee. Her published research can be found in Literacy in Composition Studies, Across the Disciplines, and Community Literacy Journal.
