Professional Interests

Ben Mulvey, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Politics in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences and has been a member of the NSU faculty since 1988. He received his doctorate from Michigan State University with a specialization in political theory and applied ethics. Dr. Mulvey served on the bioethics committee of Broward General Medical Center for twelve years. He was also a member of the Florida Department of Corrections Bioethics Committee and a member of Hospice Care of Southeast Broward Bioethics Committee. He remains a member of the Florida Bioethics Network, an organization that is committed to bioethics education. Dr. Mulvey's current research interests center around the ethical systems of classical antiquity and the relationships between humans and non-human animals.
