Application for Performing and Visual Arts Grants and Scholarships

To support talented performing and visual arts students, the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences offers talent-based performing and visual arts grants and scholarships for qualified, eligible students.

Eligibility

The performing and visual arts grants and scholarships, awarded on a yearly basis, are available to new and continuing eligible, qualified students. Please review the specific eligibility requirements of the various performing and visual arts grants and scholarships published on the college's Scholarships and Grants page.

Students pursuing one or more of the following degrees at the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences may apply *

Application Information

Applications for the James and Nan Farquhar Performing and Visual Arts Grants will be accepted February 1 through May 1 each year.

Current grant recipients who wish to reapply should complete the application and schedule a meeting with the faculty of their respective discipline prior to May 1 for a performance evaluation. Faculty recommend continuation or discontinuation of the award. After the awards are approved, all applicants will receive notification of the decision. Amounts will be adjusted based on the funds available in the endowment.

New applicants should complete the application and submit digital performance or work samples to wadams@nova.edu. Dancers should perform a one-minute solo in the style of their choice. Music students should prepare two pieces in contrasting styles that best demonstrate musical ability. Theatre students should prepare two contrasting monologues or one monologue and one song. Theatre technical design students should present a design tech portfolio. Visual arts students should submit a portfolio - go to this link for detailed information regarding the digital portfolio review process and guidelines: https://hcas.nova.edu/departments/communications-media-arts/art-portfolio-review.html. Performance or work samples are evaluated by faculty in the respective disciplines and awards are recommended at the end of the year. After the awards are approved by ESS, all applicants will receive a letter informing them of the decision. Amounts will be adjusted based on the funds available in the endowment.
