Explore the Planet—From Ocean Depths to Land
Welcome to the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences, where we focus on critical issues concerning the ocean, atmosphere, and land. We offer robust programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including B.S. and M.S. degrees in Marine Biology and Environmental Science, as well as a Ph.D. in Oceanography. Our interdisciplinary coursework spans everything from ecology and geology to molecular biology and genomics, preparing you for a dynamic career as a professional scientist, educator, or researcher in academia, industry, or government.
On behalf of the Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences, at the NSU Halmos College of Arts and Sciences, we are happy to welcome you to the exciting field of marine science. We offer a wide variety of experiences including lab research and fieldwork. Please seek out opportunities to get your hands and feet wet.
We are lucky that the Oceanographic Campus is located in Dania Beach within the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. This gives us unique access to the world's third-largest coral barrier reef system, known as the Florida Reef Tract. We offer undergraduate degrees in Marine Biology, and Environmental Science/Studies, a master's degree in Marine Science, and a Ph.D. in Marine Biology/Oceanography. Feel free to come and tour our facilities by scheduling a Tour of the Oceanographic Campus.
We wish you all the best in reaching your desired academic goals, and look forward to meeting you soon!
Sincerely,
Tamara Frank, Ph.D.Interim Chair/Professor
