Dance Auditions
Congratulations again on your admission to NSU Florida. We are so excited to welcome you to the dance program! Now that you're officially a Shark, we invite you to audition with us on campus for course placement during an upcoming Shark Preview Weekend. This audition is required for all incoming dance majors. As a dance major, you are invited to apply for our exclusive Performing and Visual Arts program, Razor's Edge Shark Talent, a curricular and co-curricular program for aspiring student leaders interested in the arts and it includes a $24,000 annual scholarship.

- If you are interested in completing your dance major placement audition, email the Shark Preview team at sharkpreview@nova.edu with your preferred Shark Preview Weekend audition date.
- If you are interested in applying to the Razor's Edge Shark Talent program, or any additional Premier Programs, please complete the supplemental Premier Programs application at nova.edu/premier.
- As an admitted major in the arts, you have earned a waived essay for this Simply type the words "DANCE MAJOR" into the essay box when you submit your Premier Programs application.
- Please note, the Razor's Edge Shark Talent program is only available for first time in college

- If an in-person audition is not possible, students may request an on line audition where they send in a video and schedule an online interview by emailing Elana Lanczi at lanczi@nova.edu.
What to Expect
- Prepare to take a modern dance class and perform a 1-2 minute solo in the style of your choice.
- Immediately following the class portion of the audition, you will meet with dance faculty for a brief, informal interview to discuss your individual academic and artistic goals. The B.A. in Dance can easily combine with another major or minor, and you will have the opportunity to discuss your future career interests such as dance education, studio ownership, choreography, or dance The interview is an opportunity for the faculty to get to know you as well as an opportunity for you to address any questions you may have about the dance program at NSU.
- You will be assessed for level placement in dance technique courses during the audition.
- Please note that the dance audition is closed to observers.
Dress Code
- Dance attire with solid colors is preferred. Long hair should be secured away from the face. Please no dangling jewelry or watches.
