Research Focus

Our research focuses on understanding environmental changes through two primary avenues: (1) examining climate change on the North American Great Plains during the Quaternary Period, and (2) investigating environmental challenges related to contaminated marine sediment in nearshore environments. By integrating sedimentology, geochemistry, geochronology, and paleoclimatology, we aim to reconstruct past environmental conditions and provide insights into modern and future ecological concerns, especially regarding climate dynamics and contamination in marine systems.

Research Activities

  • Geochronology and paleoecology
  • Quaternary stratigraphy and sedimentology
  • Marine sedimentology and toxicology
  • Geographic information system (GIS) and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) analysis
