Whether your passion takes you to the sea or keeps you grounded and working with people, Nova Southeastern University’s Halmos College of Natural Sciences offers you several master’s programs (including M.S. degrees) to help you reach your goals and grow your career.

In all our master’s programs, you’ll learn key concepts through a hands-on curriculum taught by professors who are passionate about the environment, health, and biology. Many are active researchers, studying everything from coral reef restoration and marine biodiversity to comparative genomics and infectious diseases. As faculty-mentors, they’ll guide you to success. M.A. Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media

The Master of Arts in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program is built with students’ long-term success and employability in mind. Graduates with an M.A. in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media from NSU will be prepared to pursue doctoral studies as well as a variety of careers in publishing and/or education.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for editors and writers will keep pace with other professions over the next several years, while demand for certain specialties, such as technical writing, will increase 10% faster than the average for all occupations.

M.S. Marine Science

What better place to advance your education in marine science than at a university with an entire campus and marina devoted to the field? Dive deep into the study of marine systems and be exposed to a wide variety of special topics, including everything from shark research to coral reef conservation.

As a graduate of the marine sciences master’s programs, you’ll be prepared for advanced roles in education, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and more.

M.S. Biological Sciences - Health Studies Concentration

The demand for better health care workers is at an all-time high. Doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and other medical professionals are highly sought after and lead rewarding and successful careers. A Master of Science in Health Studies is designed to better prepare you for entrance into highly competitive, health-related professional schools. In this 12-month (30-credit) program, you’ll be exposed to rigorous coursework to develop in-depth knowledge of science as it relates to the human body. You’ll learn about current advances in medical research and practice critical-thinking skills.

M.S. Biological Sciences - Research Concentration

The Master of Science in Biological Sciences degree with a concentration in research gives you the opportunity to pursue your research interests in a specific aspect of genomics, microbiology, evolution, ecology, parasitology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.

As a graduate of this program, you can enter a multitude of careers in all fields of biology or continue your educational journey in a Ph.D. or professional medical program. In your research, you’ll tackle significant questions in biology and gain a superior understanding of the scientific method, applying it to your specific research goals and projects.

M.S. Conflict Analysis and Resolution

The Master of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution is designed to train reflective professionals in the practice, design, and evaluation of a variety of conflict resolution applications. The program focuses on pragmatic approaches to solving problems inherent in human social relations.

Students are exposed to a wide array of techniques and strategies to help people achieve nonviolent, non-litigious solutions for conflicts that arise in many personal, professional, organizational, and social environments.

M.S. National Security Affairs and International Relations

National Security Affairs is one of the fastest-growing professions, with positions open in the public sector in the federal, state, and local governments and in the private sector. This program is designed for professionals and those aspiring for careers in the field, as well as for students with a strong academic interest in security affairs and international relations.

The program is offered entirely online or in a hybrid format. Students selecting the hybrid format will take a combination of courses at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus and online. A minimum of one campus-based course is offered each semester.

M.P.S. Environmental Science

In the M.P.A. of Environmental Sciences, students will have the choice of specializing in marine biology, coastal zone management, computational molecular biology, or environmental sciences. This program is unique by providing basic applied marine and environmental science as its anchor.

This program is designed for both recent graduates and returning professionals who require additional expertise or credentials to advance in their field.
