GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

The graduate certificate programs are designed for professionals in the field seeking career advancement, those who aspire to enter the field, or individuals in related professions.  These programs are designed so students may pursue them without interruption of their professional work schedules. Most certificate programs include a combination of on-campus and online classes that best fit student schedules.

Computational Molecular Biology

This Computational Molecular Biology Certificate intends to assist students' entry into the genomics industry and workforce. It provides a solid foundation for both genomics and computer science fields, introduces bioinformatics theory, resources, and databases, and enables a gateway to more advanced studies in computational molecular biology.

Certificate students will learn how to interpret complex genomic data, manage large caches of genetic sequences, as well as database management and a variety of connected applications. This certificate program can be completed online, and courses do not have to be taken over consecutive semesters.

Graduate Certificate in National Security Affairs and International Relations

The National Security Affairs and International Relations (NSAIR) certificate program is designed for professionals in the field seeking career advancement, those who aspire to enter the field, individuals in related professions, and those retired from the military and government seeking consulting and other positions. Examples of potential students include personnel in the military, federal, state and local governments, law enforcement, corporations, and academia, as well as recent college graduates.

For students with a graduate degree or pursuing a graduate degree in another field, this would be a valuable complement to their existing program. The program focuses on building critical analytical skills graduates need to succeed professionally in the field of national security affairs. 

Graduate Certificate in Peace Studies

The Graduate Certificate Program in Peace Studies offers interdisciplinary graduate studies for life-long learners who want to become familiar and skilled in the discourse of peace studies. This program offers an opportunity to gain a broad understanding of various aspects of peacebuilding and conflict resolution skills.

Areas of study include the history and theory of international and domestic conflict; the political, economic, cultural, and social roots of such conflict; the causes and conduct of warfare; violence prevention; and global institutions for the resolution of conflict.

Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Research

The Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Research consists of six three-credit-hour online courses (18 credit hours) designed to prepare academics, professional research consultants, and graduate students to understand a variety of qualitative research approaches and to conduct qualitative research studies.

Our certificate students will gain insight into the philosophical and theoretical foundations of qualitative research; distinguish and critique qualitative research approaches and products; and apply best practices in qualitative research to design, propose, conduct, and compose qualitative research of their own.

Graduate Certificate in Advanced Conflict Resolution Practice

The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Conflict Resolution Practice offers students the fundamentals of applied conflict resolution and advanced training in the conflict resolution "skill-set." It is intended to meet the needs of those individuals who seek more expertise in conflict resolution and are mainly interested in becoming practitioners in the field.

This certificate may also be appropriate for professionals who have already earned a graduate degree in their professional area, but who would benefit from an academic study of applications of conflict analysis & resolution in their current profession. This program is offered in both online and on-campus formats.
