Biography 

Julio Cesar Carpio was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He received his B.A. in English Literature from Florida International University in 2016, his MFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University in 2017, and his MAT in Secondary Education from New York University in 2022. His written poetry and prose examine the horrors of everyday living through the lens of a Fat, Queer, Latino punk. He has several self-published zines and a short chapbook of poetry titled How to Heal. He has been teaching College Writing and Advanced College Writing courses as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University since the fall semester of 2019. In addition to his work as an instructor with NSU, he is also a classroom teacher. Professor Carpio enjoys watching teen dramas and playing video games when not teaching or writing.
