Laura Carter earned her B.A. (English literature with distinction) and M.F.A. (creative writing in poetry) from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. An Atlanta native, she has been teaching since 2002, and has been teaching with NSU since 2011.

Laura has received awards for her poetry and has published numerous chapbooks, individual poems, and book reviews over the years. She brings this creativity to the classroom, where she hopes it is appreciated. She hopes to inspire students to think “outside of the box,” and is overjoyed when their work shows an appreciation for the diversity and variegation that is our world.

Laura’s many interests include media theory, poetry and poetics (in particular the avant-garde and post-avant-garde), and also the natural world. You may find her working on her computer or just as likely hiking or walking in nature.
